Warm milk contains high levels of tryptophan, which is a natural sedative that induces sleep. Relaxing Lavender oil and other essential oils can also be used which induces a state of rest.

Professional herbalists simply do not prescribe herbs to treat symptoms such as insomnia, but are intended to correct imbalances within the body that cause these symptoms. For example, the sleep inducive herbs such as valerian and hops are used to calm the nervous system so that a person can sleep naturally without the help of any sleeping pills. Each herb contains a series of active ingredients and is one of the main measures or a subsidiary actions, which determines the conditions for which it is most appropriate.
